1. Prepare your files
- The final mix as WAV or high-quality MP3.
- A vocal-only stem if you want lip-sync (it improves accuracy).
- Your lyrics as text.
- Photos (5–10 clear, different angles) if the lead should look like you.
2. Decide what the video is for
A YouTube premiere, Spotify Canvas, TikTok promotion or all three? This decides the formats: 16:9 for YouTube, 9:16 for Reels, TikTok and Canvas. Ordering them together saves money.
3. Write a short brief
You do not need a full script. A good brief answers: what is the song about, what mood should it have, what places or images do you imagine, and are there any references you love? Three or four sentences are enough.
4. Approve the concept first
A good studio sends you a scene-by-scene concept and reference frames before producing the video. This is the cheapest moment to change direction, so take your time.
5. Review the first cut carefully
Check that the characters stay consistent, the lip-sync matches, the edit lands on the beat and the story follows the lyrics. Write clear notes with timestamps, for example "1:24 – change the rain scene to sunset".
6. Plan the release
- Upload to YouTube with your song title, artist name and "Official Music Video" in the title.
- Write a description with the lyrics, credits and your streaming links.
- Post vertical clips of the hook on TikTok, Reels and Shorts in the days around the release.
- Add the video to your Spotify Canvas, website and link-in-bio.
